Mohammed al-Basha said, "I hate to say it, but I hear loud and clear the drums of war in Yemen,"

US special forces fled from Yemen

Rebels-Huthis, to keep under control the capital of Yemen, moving to the south of the country. There hiding deposed their president, who asks for help from its main ally - Washington. Heated battle terrorist attacks, which have claimed hundreds of people.

Meanwhile, the US military hastily leave the Middle East state. They are already there to fight for what is not. US leaving the sinking ship United States decided to temporarily evacuate all its staff from Yemen, reports the BBC.

On Friday, the country left 100 US Special Forces soldiers, which is located at the military base of Al-Anad. According to the agency dpa, citing a source in the Yemeni army, the country output also members of the local anti-terrorist units, trained by US forces. US Department of State explains the need for O "deterioration of the security situation," as stated in the official agency. At the same time, Washington emphasizes that continues to monitor the situation in Yemen and sees no military solution to escalate the conflict.

Recall that its embassy in that country, Americans have closed a month ago, when the rebels-Huthis announced the seizure of power. "We continue to actively monitor terrorist threats emanating from the territory of Yemen. We are in the region of forces and means to neutralize them, "- said State Department spokesman Jeff Rathke. If necessary, Washington "will act to eliminate imminent threat to the United States and its citizens," he added, reports Tass.

Their actions are coordinated by the US President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi, whom Washington, unlike the rebels captured the capital of Yemen, said legitimate. In this regard, States supports and other members of the UN Security Council, recalled in an address to the rebels Rathke. Rebels headed by the former president of the Middle East, Ali Abdullah Saleh, who was the culprit States called the worsening crisis. In his official report of the Washington turns to him with a demand to stop inciting violence.

The withdrawal of US troops, which were located in Yemen to protect the country from terrorist groups, "Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula", was organized immediately after the Sana'a have been several major attacks . March 20 suicide bombers staged bombings in two mosques during Friday prayers. Killed at least 137 people, a lot of seriously injured. Four suicide bomber detonated an explosives in mosques in the south of Sanaa Badr and Al-Hashush the north.

Most of these mosques are visited by rebels Huthis relating to the Shiites. It is reported that among the dead was the imam of a mosque Zayed Mahatvari known among Huthis preacher. The fact that the group operates in Yemen IG, became known in November 2014, but the responsibility for the attack militants "Islamic state" assumed the first time. Yemen has traditionally been considered one of the main US allies in the region, but the effect is weakened States since the rebels captured the capital and overthrew President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi, supported by Washington.

Hadi was sent under house arrest, but the day before he was released - with the help of the United States, and fled with his supporters in his native city of Aden, which declared the provisional capital of the country. There also moved their embassy main Sunni countries in the region - Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Hadi Abd Rabbo Mansour has already appealed to the UN Security Council with a request to hold a meeting in connection with complicate the situation in the country.

The relevant meeting will be held on an emergency basis on Sunday at 22.00 MSK. He also spoke in a hard tone to the Huthis-rebels, demanding to give up control of captured ministries and agencies in Sana'a. Insurgency he described as "a coup against the legitimate constitution", and promised to raise the flag of Yemen "instead of the Iranian flag" over the mountains of Maran in Sa'ada governorate, where is traditionally the mainstay Huthis.

"Shiite extremism that promote police Huthis, and Sunni extremism represented by "al-Qaeda" - are two sides of the same coin - said Hadi. - They do not want the good and the stability of Yemen and its people. " Recall that the bulk of the country's population - over 50 percent - identify themselves as Sunni. The representative of the Embassy of Yemen in Washington, Mohammed al-Basha said that the country is teetering on the brink of all-out war.

"I hate to say it, but I hear loud and clear the drums of war in Yemen," - he wrote on Twitter. The rebels take positions Meanwhile, the rebels took control of Huthis Airport in the south, in the city of Taiz, and gained control of this city, According to Al Jazeera. Taiz - the third largest city in the country, located near Aden, where now is the president. Military protecting Hadi, opened fire on the plane flying in the direction of Aden. This is the fourth such incident in recent times.

Correspondents Arab media reported that the rebels are actively promoted to the south of the country, thus harassing government forces. The unstable situation in the country has been going on for years, but in recent months confrontation between Huthis Shia and Sunni authorities escalated. Huthis managed to capture nine of the 21 provinces of Yemen.

The rebels, most of which relates to the movement of "Ansar Allah" on March 21, announced the mass mobilization of supporters. As television reported SkyNewsArabia, immediately after this rebel troops headed towards cities Lahj and Aden. Previously, the channel reported that about 500 rebels arrived on military aircraft from Sana'a to Taiz, where at that time were fighting with government forces. On the eve of the fighting in Taiz in Port Al-Salif came Iranian ship "Sharman," according to the channel Al Arabiya. There were about 180 tons of military equipment.

Recall that the port is located in the province of Al-Hodeidah, controlled Huthis.President Hadi accuses of supporting Huthis Iran - Shiite center in the region. Themselves rebels deny that coordinate with someone their actions, and call the cause of their struggle against the opposition ligament Sunni government with the US, which, in their opinion, they want to destroy the country following the example of Iraq or Syria.

They also claim that during the years of Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi problem of "Al Qaeda" has not been resolved, and they intend to displace the terrorists on their own until they spread out over all the provinces of Yemen. Thus, now in Yemen fighting each other three forces - the military to defend the government Hadi, the rebels-Huthis dissatisfied controlled by the US government, and the terrorist underground in the face of "Al-Qaeda", and now the IG.

It should be noted that in March, the US sent Yemeni authorities military aid worth about 500 million dollars, which disappeared in an unknown direction. It was a variety of weapons, aircraft and military equipment. The Pentagon itself subsequently acknowledged that weapons could fall into the hands of insurgents Huthis or "al-Qaeda". "We have to admit that it is endangered and is completely gone," - said an employee of Congress, who wished to remain anonymous.

The Dead Zone Americans say that a military solution to the conflict in Yemen, they do not see, are completely baseless, as the war there has been going on for a long time, recalls Director of the Middle East Institute Yevgeny Satanovskiy . "Yemen as a country no longer exists. The battle for power, which ended with the overthrow of President Saleh, led to the final disintegration of the state, - he said. - Iran, investing Zaidi Sheikh Huthis actually achieved that captured north Shiites - including the capital, including the port of Hodeidah, which is now actively be used to smuggle weapons into the Sinai.

In the south, strengthened Sunnis, including separatist groups and "al-Qaeda", - said Satanovskiy. So now we can talk only about how the military action will affect the country and the region as a whole, he said. "The question of whether the split completely Yemen to the South and the North, which existed up to 90 years and how severe will be the group" Al-Qaeda "in this area - yet it is the historic homeland of Osama bin Laden. Also important is the question of how it destabilizes the situation in Saudi Arabia, in the waters of the Red Sea.

But all this is a rhetorical question. There is a total collapse of the Middle East, and in this regard, Yemen is no different from Libya, "- said Satanovskiy. "Yemen - an area where people are less than the arms. There are 25 million people, about 70 million weapons, including heavy equipment - recalled expert. - We always tribes troops were armed with more than the army. " The statement "Islamic state" that is, they organized the attack in Sana'a mosques, still does not mean that the country has a new player, believes Satanovskiy.

Despite the fact that the IG and "Al Qaeda" are in a bad relationship, some militants could go over to the "Islamic state", he said. "Could not find a common language with the sponsors - in this situation, it is Saudi Arabia. The fact that some groups that were part of the "Al Qaeda" is now included in the IG, says only that they are bought by Qatar. But such a claim no one will ever ".

This may be some local tribe, to get enough money from Qatar, who loves to tread on the heels of the Saudis reminds Satanovskiy. "IG - it's still a Qatari project", - he added. If the United States does not withdraw from Yemen their people, they simply destroy, the expert believes. "Americans will be there to kill in large numbers. They no piety there no one feels, "- he said.

The fate of the President Hadi has no one cares, says Satanovskiy. "Hadi was a puppet of Saudi Arabia and the Americans. This is absolutely communicating, temporary figure, which is now exhausted itself, and America will not defend him. And what will happen with the transfer of power in Yemen - nobody knows what the US does not control, "- he added.

he attack rebels in the south of the country would have serious implications, says Satanovskiy. "If Huthis will drop away to the south, it will cause a strong resistance in the Sunni provinces that will not tolerate over a Saudis. So get involved offensives dangerous. " Stay in the Middle Eastern country to Americans not for that.

"Base drones in Yemen, which was strategically important for action against groups like" Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula ", it has long been forgotten past for them. Today it is possible to rely on a base in Djibouti, which is perhaps the closest to the battle. There are a number of French base, and now the Japanese. Here on this point to worry, "- said the expert.

U.S. evacuates key drone base as storm brews in Yemen

ADEN, YEMEN – Yemen’s Shiite rebels issued a call to arms Saturday to battle forces loyal to the country’s embattled president, as U.S. troops were evacuating a southern air base crucial to America’s drone strike program after al-Qaida militants seized a nearby city.

The turmoil comes as Yemen battles al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula, the target of the drone program, and faces a purported affiliate of the extremist Islamic State group that claimed responsibility for a series of suicide bombings killing at least 137 people Friday.

All these factors could push the Arab world’s most impoverished country, united only in the 1990s, back toward civil war.

“I hate to say this, but I’m hearing the loud and clear beating of the drums of war in Yemen,” Mohammed al-Basha, a spokesman for the Yemeni Embassy in Washington, wrote on Twitter.

The Shiite rebels, known as Houthis, swept into Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, in September and now control it and nine of the country’s 21 provinces. President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi, a one-time prisoner of the Houthis in his own home, escaped last month and installed himself in Aden, declaring it the temporary capital amid the Houthi insurrection.

Earlier Saturday, Hadi gave his first televised address since fleeing the capital, striking a defiant tone. He described the rebels’ rule as “a coup against constitutional legitimacy.” He also pledged to raise the Yemeni flag over the Maran mountains, a stronghold for the Houthis, members of the Shiite Zaydi sect that represents nearly 30 percent of Yemen’s population.

Hadi also said regional Shiite power Iran supported the Houthis, something critics also allege and the rebels deny. Sunni Gulf countries have lined up to support Hadi and have moved their embassies to Aden to back him against the Shiite rebels.

Almost immediately after Hadi’s speech, the Houthis issued a statement announcing their offensive against security and military institutions loyal to Hadi, calling it a battle against extremists.

Though seizing power in Sanaa and clashing with those protesting their power grab, the Houthis largely haven’t resorted to open warfare since beginning their campaign in September. Their statement Saturday immediately recalled the years of war fought in the country, once split between a Marxist south that once was a British colony and a northern republic.

As the threat of civil war grew, the U.N. Security Council called an emergency meeting set for Sunday afternoon to discuss the Yemen crisis.

Meanwhile Saturday, U.S. troops including special forces commandos were evacuating from the al-Annad air base in southern Yemen, security and military officials said. The air base, the country’s largest, was believed to have some 100 American troops stationed there.

The al-Annad base is where American and European military advisers help Yemen battle the country’s local al-Qaida branch through drone strikes and logistical support.

It’s unclear what the pullout will mean for the drone program. The U.S. has carried out more than 100 suspected drone strikes in Yemen since 2009, according to the New America Foundation’s International Security Program, which tracks the American campaign.
